Panelist training
Olfactometry requires the individual conducting the aroma evaluation (panelist) be thoroughly trained to accurately and precisely describe and rate aroma intensities. Typically panelists sniff GC effluent of the sample of interest to become familiar with characteristic odors. Subsequent training involves making samples of various concentrations. GCO panelists evaluate the samples for aroma intensity until a consistent response is acquired.
