Paper and Packaging

Most packaging products off gas chemicals utilized in their production. One way to determine this is if a product has any aroma, good, bad, or neutral. Another way to determine this is by measuring the chemicals by trapping them in an absorbent, and then analyzing them with instrumentation such as gas chromatography mass spectrometry. In order to mitigate potential risk of undesired aroma or potential hazards associated with exposure, we stand ready to assist with volatile characterization and/or GC-MS/O analyses to address your off-gassing questions. Volatile Analysis conducts off gassing analysis with paper, packaging, and other materials including:

Corrugated Foam Paper
Cardboard Aluminum Pallets
Tin Plate Brick Carton Packing Peanuts

Volatile Analysis, in conjunction with scientists from UA Huntsville, has been successful in publishing research conducted to identify volatile chemicals indicative of a deadly disease called aspergillosis. Click here to read more.
Volatile Analysis featured on IOPP’s website. Paper published is focused on off-odor in packaging with a case study in Pizza. Click here to read more.
Off-odors destroy consumer confidence and present challenging problems for the food/ beverage/ cosmetics/packaging industries. Click here to read more.
Musty odors are complex and are associated with spoiled or unclean conditions. Common sources for musty odors are in fact microbiological in origin. Click here to read more.
